Rachel Pearsey is an American artist from California, where she earned her degree in art. Her work is exhibited in galleries, she teaches private art lessons, and she was the owner and director of the Julian Gallery. She has been living and working as an artist in North Africa, where the colours, culture, and history strongly influence her work and the images she creates.
Rachel’s work is unique in its mixture of media- oil paintings on fabric and collage that are layered with depth and symbolism to communicate visually. She enjoys working with texture and dimension. Some paintings are created by first sewing together pieces of fabric and then sealing them to the canvas as a first layer, on top of which she paints the images with oils. Rachel also paints on layers of collage that she creates from paper, fabric, papyrus, text, images, and handmade materials.
Beyond the physical layers of these paintings lies an even deeper level of meaning and a great story that has been unfolding for thousands of years. The foundation of this magnificent story is found in the words of God in the Bible, and it’s impact is seen in the lives of those who have been changed by it. This is the story of the long awaited promises of God that were fulfilled two thousand years ago. This is the story of The Coming.
